I missed the bus, mom’s going to be ticked! What do I say?

Well, I missed the bus again 🙁 Yup, again. Last time I told my mom that the bus came early and I was still in my PJ’s. She was still kind of mad at me for it…even though it wasn’t my fault that the bus came early. Anyway, now it’s my fault, and I didn’t really mean for it to happen but I was running late getting ready and I saw the bus pass by my house where it normally stops…So, it’s sort of my fault but not really. All of my friends are at school by now, mom’s at work, the rest of my family is in a diff state, my mom has all the money so no taxi cab, the only bus I’ll be seeing again today will be the bus coming back to bring kids home!! My mom is gonna be pissed! Should I make up a story? What should I say? I don’t want her to be mad at me 🙁

Update:

btw: can’t pretend like I went because my school calls her at the end of the school day telling her that I didn’t show.

Seriously when I was your age I would have tried to make up an excuse to get away with something like this.

However now I have kids of my own I would much prefer to be told the truth than a pack of lies. If I were you I would come clean and explain you missed the bus because you weren’t ready. Tell her that when you go to school tomorrow you will speak to the teachers of the classes you missed and get then work from them that you should have done today.

If I was your Mom I would appreciate this better than some bad story that will eventually catch you up and bite you in the ***!

    Good luck kid 😉

I’m sure that this won’t be a popular answer but I hope it might be helpful.

    I think you should:

1: Call the school and tell them that you missed your bus and have no way to get to school today so you would like to know how you can get all of your assignments that you will be missing today so that you won’t fall behind.

2: Call your mom and tell her the truth. Take responsibility (even though it’s scary and she might be a little mad, she’ll be impressed that you are handling your mistake in a mature way) for missing the bus and tell her that you’ve called the school and are going to get your assignments for the day and have them done before school is over, if possible.

3: Come up with a realistic plan so that this won’t happen again. When your mom is ranting at you about not letting this happen again, having a concrete plan outlined will stop her in her tracks. For example: Get everything all ready the night before and set your clock ahead 10 minutes and keep some cereal bars in the pantry so you can eat breakfast at the bus stop if you’re running late anyway. Or maybe she (or a friend who is always up in the morning) can call you 20 or 30 minutes before the bus usually arrives to make sure you’re up on time.

Nothing will dispel her anger at your “immaturity” or “irresponsibility” like maturely taking responsibility for your mistake and having a plan to avoid it in the future.

PS: This can work in school, college, and at work when you make a mistake too. I know, I’ve done it. Everyone makes mistakes sometimes but making up excuses makes you look worse, not better.

    Good Luck!!

You want to put out a fire, make a larger fire right next to it! 🙂

Come up with something outrageous man, Tell her you are being bullied (actually no tough topic in the States). Tell her you are worried because school is really getting you down, the teachers don’t understand you and you are feeling completely unmotivated. Your grades are reflecting this etc.

As soon as you tell her this she will forget about the bus 🙂

Or just tell her the truth but be sure to make use of your day, don’t just spend it on YA or FB, do some school work, or clean the house and make her something.

    Either one’s a winner dude!

    Peace

Can you take a city bus or walk?

Or call her at work and tell her the truth.

Ask her, I am ready now and want to go, what should I do?

Don’t lie or make up a story. Honesty is best, she will trust you more if you face your mistake.

Well call the school and fake like you are your father and tell them that you wont be showing up so that they wont call your mom dude this has gotta work. Or even better call a friend or text and have them tell all of your teachers your sick

Can you phone the school and ask them whether they will pay for the taxi when you arrive? And then you can give them the money the next day, when you get it from your mom?
