My sister got her nose pierced yesterday, and the guy used the nose stud that has like a half spiral thing (the name of it slipped my mind) and it made her nose really irritated because if was just touching her nose hairs and skin. She’s worried she’s actually getting a cold, and doesn’t want it to become infected. She’s been sneezing since and had a runny nose, that haven’t gotten worse over 24 hours, so I’m convinced it’s not a cold… what I want to know is,
if she does get a cold, what should she do to make sure it won’t get infected?
and could she change the nose stud herself in a few days or should she go back to the piercer and get it changed, because it’s really annoying her!
thank you!

Just keep up with the sea salt soaks twice a day (maximum three times) to help draw out any bacteria in the fistula (the skin inside the hole)

If the jewellery is really irritating her then definitely go back to the piercer to change it, they can put it in with minimal hassle in a sterile environment and with sterile jewellery. Perhaps ask if she could have a micro labret stud in instead with a jewelled ball?

A cold won’t infect the hole made or cause any infection or swelling (unless she keeps touching it).
I think the piercing possibly hit a nerve in the nose , this will cause the running and sneezing which will stop once it is properly healed , I had a piercing and it stung for a day then for the next 3 weeks I had to be careful.
I even caught a cold , but you just have to wipe around it , try not to touch it too much .
The piercer might be able to change it , ask him/her , but usually you have to leave it in for 3-4 weeks or it closes up.

Having a cold isn’t going to cause her to get an infection. It may get irritated as hell from all the sneezing and nose blowing, etc etc but (as gross as it may be) snot isn’t full of germs harmful to a piercing.
If she wants to change it, it’ll need to be done by a reputable piercer, it’s too early for her to try it herself (or she DOES risk infection).

i’m sixteen and have been given it accomplished in year 8 so i became like 14 i think, its basically like an ear piercing, you ca’t even sense the discomfort its so rapid and on the spot. they clean your nostril with alcohol wipes, do a dot with a pen the place they’ll do it. enable you already know to be nonetheless and close your eyes, do no longer flow in any different case it ought to jolt or they could pierce it interior the incorrect place, they make you placed on a biggish one at first and its the conventional technique like with ears, do no longer touch it with grimy palms, clean it like 2 circumstances an afternoon with salty heat water, dont take it out reason it needs to heal, are not getting makeup in it, in keeping with danger even placed on a small plaster on it at living house reason it ought to fall out, make certain once you get it accomplished you have already offered your new ones for once you desire to alter it to a small one (interior of like 6 weeks i might say) in basic terms save cleansing it it. I did this technique as quickly as I had mine yet by way of fact it stored falling out lots i enable it % up, yet i did r pierce it myself and in basic terms didnt have time to handle so enable it close, leaves a tiny mark from the place its closed, yet became exciting whilst I had it! basically concern became as quickly as I had it at school they might try make you’re taking it out until you coved it which became yet another rationalization why it closed up! additionally to human beings asserting approximately jobs, you will get ‘nostril retainers’ its a see by clean plastic stud this is basicaly invisible as quickly as in could be worn in case you have a activity or desire to get one
