There is no difference. Varial is the same as a varial kickflip. Varial is just the short term for it.

A varial kickflip is a pop-shuvit combined with a kickflip. A hardflip is a frontside pop-shuvit combined with a kickflip.

a varial kick flip is when you do a pop shove-it and a kickflip at the same time a hard flip i think is when you do the same thing but the board goes between your legs.
