i have just bought a new pair of tights and they have no tag on them, one side has a seam that goes straight up the middle and the other side have two seams evenly spaced (there are no seams on the legs, only on the part above that) i have an inkling that the seam that goes up the middle would be at the back

The side with the two seams is for the back. There are two seams because some extra material is added between them to have them fit around your rear better. That’s what the manufacturer intends, but you can always try them both ways and see which fits you better.
I’m assuming you’re a girl. If a guy were wearing those tights, the two seams would be best in the front, because that’s where a guy needs extra fabric.

That is odd, I would say the side with two seams goes in the front because a panel in the rear could create a uni-butt appearance. Also, with the two seams in front, the middle seam impression on your tummy wouldn’t be visible under a tight skirt.

Tights With Seams

Going off the fact that little girl tights, which frequently have ruffles or bear faces or other designs across the bum, the back is the two seams. And the Best Answer is correct in that the purpose is to provide more coverage over the derriere.

2 seam side goes in the back. I’ve tried both ways and the other way is way more uncomfortable.

Tights have no front or back (unless they are specifically designed to fitted feet)
– Once you’ve worn them the front and back will be obvious as the feet and bum sections will be stretched to show where they’ve been worn

If you are wearing tights I would assume you will be wearing a dress or tunic over it so vb it probably won’t matter if which side you wore it.

You are correct…doesn’t really matter unless wearing only tights n heels..
