Yale lock wont open from the inside?

The Yale lock on my front door isn’t working properly. The knob you turn to open the door won’t turn so the door wont open. Is there any way to fix this or do I have to call the locksmith?

Update:

It’s not a doorknob its a lock like this

and buying a new one is fine but at the moment I can’t leave my house and I’m already late for a meeting

Update 2:

also I can’t remove the lock from the door because its stuck in the locked position. So even if I remove all the screws its still stuck in the door.

Is that button on the left side of the lock pushed down? That keeps the knob from turning. Try holding the button up, while turning the knob. If that’s not the problem, the lock will have to be replaced.

If something is jammed in the striker plate, it may have the bolt in a bind. Try putting pressure against the door while trying to open it. If that does not work, you will need to access the mechanism. Remove the cover plate on the interior. Depending on the brand, it may pry off, loosen with a hex nut on the bottom or be attached with screws. The below video may help.

There’s usually a catch to stop the knob turning. Is yours working? If it’s failed it’s probably be simpler to go and get a new lock and replace it – it’s easy to do.

The cheapest way out of this problem is to buy a duplicate lock from a hardware store and fit it yourself.
